Cookie Policy
Version 1.0 — Effective August 3, 2026 (posted July 4, 2026)
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Oystercatcher, LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company ("Oystercatcher," "we," "our," or "us"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at oystercatcher.ai (the "Site") and our application at app.oystercatcher.ai (the "Application"). It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, and the choices you have.
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes more broadly how we collect and use personal information.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember your preferences and actions, and understand how the site is being used. Cookies set by us are called "first-party cookies"; cookies set by other companies whose services we use are called "third-party cookies."
We also use similar technologies, including:
- Local storage and session storage: Browser-based storage used to hold application state, preferences, and session information.
- Pixels and tags: Small snippets of code or images that help measure how pages are used.
- Software development kits (SDKs) and scripts: Code libraries, such as analytics and session replay tools, that collect information about how our Site and Application are used.
In this policy, we use "cookies" to refer collectively to all of these technologies unless otherwise noted.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential to operate the Site and Application. They authenticate you when you log in, maintain your session, and protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other security threats. Because the Application cannot function without them, they cannot be disabled through our consent tools. If you block them in your browser, you will not be able to log in or use the Application.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication and session tokens | Identify your logged-in session on app.oystercatcher.ai and keep you signed in securely | Oystercatcher (first party) | Session, or up to 30 days if you choose to stay signed in |
| CSRF protection token | Protect forms and API requests on app.oystercatcher.ai against cross-site request forgery attacks | Oystercatcher (first party) | Session |
| Preference record | Remember your session replay and other preference choices in the Application | Oystercatcher (first party) | Up to 12 months |
3.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make so we can provide a more personalized experience. These are set in response to actions you take — such as choosing display settings — and are used only to honor those choices, so they do not require consent; clearing them means your preferences will not persist between visits.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Preference and settings storage | Remember interface settings such as display preferences, table layouts, and dismissed notices | Oystercatcher (first party) | Up to 12 months (local storage persists until cleared) |
3.3 Analytics
On the marketing Site (oystercatcher.ai), we use cookieless, aggregate analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand how visitors find and use our pages — for example, which pages are most visited. This measurement sets no cookies, uses no persistent identifiers, and does not track you across sites, which is why the Site does not need a cookie consent banner. We do not use Google Analytics or similar cookie-based analytics on the Site.
3.4 Session Replay
Within the logged-in Application (app.oystercatcher.ai), we use LogRocket, a session replay service, to help us provide customer support and improve the product. LogRocket records interactions within the Application — such as pages viewed, clicks, and console errors — and associates those recordings with your logged-in user account so that our support team can diagnose issues you report and our product team can identify usability problems.
LogRocket is not loaded on the marketing Site or on authentication pages (such as login and registration pages). It runs only inside the authenticated Application. Because Oystercatcher operates in the United States, session replay runs by default for logged-in users. You can turn it off at any time in your account settings ("Session replay for support"), organization administrators can disable it for the entire organization, and you may object by emailing [email protected].
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| LogRocket SDK identifiers (cookies / local storage) | Record in-application sessions for support diagnostics and product improvement; identifies the logged-in user | LogRocket, Inc. | Up to 12 months (local storage persists until cleared) |
| Session recordings | Recordings of in-application sessions for support diagnostics and product improvement | LogRocket, Inc. | Deleted after 30 days |
4. How to Control Cookies
4.1 Session Replay Controls
The only non-essential tracking technology we use is session replay inside the authenticated Application (Section 3.4). You can control it in two ways: the "Session replay for support" toggle in your account settings; and an organization-wide disable available to your administrators. The marketing Site sets no non-essential cookies, so no consent banner is required there.
4.2 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies through their settings. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to and using the Application.
4.3 Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser, as described in Your Privacy Choices.
5. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law. When we make changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the version and effective date shown above. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice as required by law.
